Thread: New base Stingray first oil change?

Default New base Stingray first oil change?

I recently purchased a 2019 Stingray with manual transmission. Wet sump LT1 and it is not a Z51. I have just completed the 500 mile break in as outlined in the owners manual. I know that dry sump Z51, GS, Z06 and ZR1 car require a 500 mile oil change. My understanding is that is because the silicone seals in the engine cause the oil to lose it's anti-foaming properties which can somehow harm a dry sump engine.

My question is should I get my wet sump LT1's engine oil changed now at 500 miles or is it just a waste of money (actually one of the two free oil changes that come with the new car). I'm concerned that if engine oil that foams in bad for the wet sump engines it can't be all that good for the dry sump LT1.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

    HI there,

No, you can not worry and follow the oil life monitor.

    You will be just fine.

And CONGRATS on the new car!!!!
