    Default Transmission Swap?

Both of my C5s with auto transmissions run great on track -- for about 15 minutes, after which the transmissions overheat. From all the articles, forum posts, etc., that I've read, I've given up on the notion that there's any realistic hope of fixing this problem, so here's my question: How difficult/expensive would it be to swap out the auto transmission for a manual?

It wouldn't be cost effective, IMHO. Better off to trade what you have for a car with the manual already.

Thanks, Bruce. I suspected that to be the case, but just thought I'd throw it out there for more experienced folks to consider.

    HI there,

Not knowing what temperature you are getting to, lets assume that you are getting a 'transmission overtemp' warning

I would suggest 2 things on this.

#1, replace the transmission fluid with Dexron 6.

#2, obtain a Dewitts radiator for your cooling system. This radiator is much more effective than OEM for racetrack usage. Monitor your temperatures to observe where you are after that swap.

#3, B&M makes an excellent auxiliary transmission cooler that I have mounted on MANY c5/c6 and it brings down temperatures substantially.

Let us know if we can help further.
